'I'm finally home after struggling through my brother's illness and death. But, home is definitely a bit different. My best friend (the only person alive now that knows my secret) has a new boyfriend; and he has a friend. Shane Maxton: bad boy, tattooed rock god, eye candy extraordinaire. He is also New York City's most arrogant, self-serving, son of a, well, a definite one-night stand kind of a guy.
But, it doesn't matter to me because I've spent my existence looking for the love of my life, my angel. And, there is nothing that Shane Maxton can do to change that.'
So figured this was going to fit nicely into the "Bad Boy" genre I've been reading so I chucked on the kindle and started reading.
Well YES it does fit the "Bad Boy" genre, It also ticked the "Rocker" element and the "Paranormal" element quite nicely to.
It did take awhile for the Paranormal element to kick in though. It does go through hinting things but it doesn't come right out and say what the "secret" is for quite some time. So I had to think about all the clues given so that was a nice element. Yes parts are obvious but it's certainly not a normal Vampire/Werewolf/Super Natural type of deal.
Again I quite like the smart ass element to it. Grace and her friend Lea have some brilliant come backs when they are at the bar. Stuff i wish I could say.
This quote is something I can relate to (I'm not a makeup person and wear it sparingly at the best of times).
"“Gray, I could cover your face in shit and make you wear tampons for earrings and you still would be the hottest girl in the bar. Besides me, of course."
"So why am I getting all dressed up? Where's the shit and tampons?”
(**Small side note, not a fan of this cover. Made it look like a full on Romance Novel when to me it was so much more. It didn't really go with the story.)
So Saving Grace
This book carries straight on from the end of Fall From Grace. It was a little slow in places but picked up quite nicely after a couple of chapters (I got a little bit over the I found him and then I lost him bit. I wanted to hurry and get back to the figuring it out thing again).
This of course has the one liners in it as well
“I’m sorry, what did you say? I’m not fluent in stupid drunk slut”
“Bitch," Bliss hissed crossing her arms in front of her chest.
Lea laughed louder, "Oh, one syllable word war. You don't even need a brain to play that game! Okay, my turn! Cunt!”
So the smart ass in me was extremely happy the banter kept coming.
Originally picked this series up not thinking it was going to become one of my favourites and quickly it has.
I also loved the Rocker side of these characters. The way it was written I could see Grace doing her thing with the Guitar. Definitely loved the "Soundtrack" that went with these books.
There is one more book coming out "Scars & Songs" which is Shane's point of view. I'm quite looking forward to it. It's meant to be out sometime this year. We'll see how we go through as Christine is still writing it :).
(14/06/13 - Well I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I figured out Scars and Songs is now out available on Amazon. - So I know what I'll be doing this weekend when I get a chance :))
