Bully - Penelope Douglas

Bully - Penelope Douglas

Well what can say about this book?

I personally loved it. Looking at some of the reviews on goodreads though it seems people either got what the author was wanting to show you or just didn't get it and it wasn't their thing. Fine either way but for me Jared and Tate's story was perfect in the fact that it was what they needed and it was not just a simple boy next door story.

Synopsis goes like this -
My name is Tate. He doesn't call me that, though. He would never refer to me so informally, if he referred to me at all.

We're neighbors, and once, we were best friends. But then, one summer, he turned on me and has made it his mission to screw up my life at every opportunity. I've been humiliated, shut out, and gossiped about all through high school. His pranks and rumors got more sadistic as time wore on, and I made myself sick trying to hide from him. I worried about what was around every corner and behind every door.

So I left.

I spent a year studying abroad and bathed in the freedom of life without Jared. Now I'm back to finish up high school and get the hell out of here forever. I'm hoping that after a year of breathing room, he's moved on and forgotten all about me.

But even if he hasn't changed, I have. I'm not interested in avoiding him or turning the other cheek anymore. We're going to go head to head, because neither of us wants to back down.

I loved Tate. I loved her transformation from timid victim into "I'm not putting up with your BS anymore" and fighting back. Ok yeah some of the things she did were immature but at the end of the day she's in high school so it's to be expected.

Jared, well what can I say. Obviously it took me awhile to warm up to him but there was something about his actions that you just knew there was more to his story. By the end of it I was ready to shove Tate out of the way. So pretty safe to say Penelope did good with making me love Jared.

I do have one gripe. I wanted to kill Tate's so called best friend K.C. You'll see when you read the book and can probably pick out the parts I'm talking about. To me you don't screw your best friend over like that. It's that simple regardless of the situation.

My favourite quote -
“You've already made me cry countless times." I raised my middle finger to him slowly, and asked, "Do you know what this is?" I took my middle finger and patted the corner of my eye with it. "It's me, wiping away the last tear you'll ever get.”  - Tate to Jared

Definitely well worth the read :).

Looking forward to the release Until You which I'm hoping will be soon.
