So I went from the last book in the Dark Duet series to this one.
I thought I'd go for another "kidnap" book.
LOVED the fact that this book is not a dark romance. There were serious moments in it but it wasn't all doom and gloom and woe is me stuff.
Actually I even found I had a smile on my face and a couple of giggle escaped. This of course made Mr E look sideways at me (I'm sure he's worked out by now he's married to a crazy book lady though so it's ok).
Synopsis - Delilah “Lily” Flynn is used to her drab existence. Lily’s been living it for twenty two years.
Her boring life is suddenly turned on its head when she’s rudely kidnapped from her bedroom.
Or so she thinks.
Nox Taylor is far too high up in his field to be assigned a babysitting job.
There’s nothing more he wants than to complete his mission so he can be rid of the smartass tomboy, Lily.
Day after day, Nox watches Lily and her strange ways. She’s unlike any woman he’s ever met.
Getting close to the girl is purely for her own protection…right?
Lily never imagined she'd make her first real friends in captivity.
What lengths would she go through to keep them?
I was waiting for the poor little rich girl aspect of this story as soon as the book tells you about Lily and her family. I soon figured out that Lily didn't need pity. She was quite happy with her books to begin with, once the story got going she enjoyed all the experiences she was having - well most of them. I don't blame her on the "kidnapped" thing. I would probably be the same in her shoes.
Even though she wasn't a typically strong heroine she had a lot going for her. Not once did it cross my mind that I wanted to smack her upside the head (Now by now if you've read a few of my reviews you know thats a huge thing for me). I loved the fact she acted her age and was unapologetic for it. She was definitely "What you see, is what you get" which was very cool.
Nox - To begin with he's kind of grumpy. Actually not kinda. He's full on GRUMPY. He's also very alpha in the fact you do it his way or not at all. He's not to bad on the compromising though and does what he can to make Lily happy. He really doesn't expect to fall for her. He's definitely not a hearts and flowers kind of guy.
With the story it was a little bit predictable, I by no means mean that as a bad thing. The characters and the humor are what makes this book and I adored the ending.
“I don’t utter a word of complaint, because let’s face it, Nox doesn't seem like a giver of f**ks.” - Lily
“Words hold power. They can bring you from the lowest low to an ultimate high in a matter of moments, and just the opposite, too” - Lily
Was a definitely a good read and can't wait to see what else I can find from Belle :).
