Thought I better get my butt into gear. It's already the 7th of January so I'm slacking already since this is my first review of the year.
These books are in The Crawford Brothers series. If your into smoking hot Men who know how to take care of what they consider theirs then you have so come to the right place with these gems.
Lets start by meeting Ky and Eden.
Be My December.
Synopsis - I knew the exact moment I’d become a ‘yes’ girl.
December 16th, a cold winter’s night, four years ago.
The night my innocence was stolen, the night I made the mistake of saying no—a mistake I’d never make again.
The dream of a ‘happily ever after' was now a locked away myth. I promised myself that I’d never return to the place of my worst nightmare, that I’d never let anyone get close, but then again, I never thought I’d meet someone like him.
The intense, confident and beautiful Ky Crawford.
I had no plans to become someone’s Prince Charming.
I couldn’t be. I refused to be. My plan was simple—do whatever it takes to correct my biggest mistake, my one regret that now controlled my life.
I was on track. I had plans, but then everything changed when I saw her—the girl in the red jacket, the girl who I was told couldn’t say no.
The reserved yet stunning Eden Rivers.
A girl who can’t say no.
A guy who craves redemption.
A chance encounter?
It all comes down to this.
Be My December?
This book starts off with from our heroine Eden's POV. We quickly learn that things are all they seem with her. She's suffering from anxieties which stem back to a trauma she had years ago in college. Her self preservation kicks in when asked questions and she can't say no to people. She's working on the "I said no and that happened, that can not happen again so I won't say no" deal.
Enter Ky. The way Ky wants to help Eden is awesome. He's entangled in her history (She does not know this) and making himself a major player in her future. He is determined to help her with that anxieties that have plagued her. While he thought in the beginning thats all he wanted to do it becomes clear that he won't be letting her walk away without him and that he gets his Alpha on and "Mine" is definitely thrown out there (In a good way of course).
I loved the way Rachel handled the storyline with this one and was true to her characters. The anxieties were not magically fixed straight away and Rachel's characters stayed true to themselves right up to the very end. They were strong characters who grabbed me from the get go and made me care about them. Thank you for not waving the magic wand and making the issues disappear just because Ky looked her way (I've read a few books lately where this has practically happened with the Heroine and Hero. Drives me crazy and definitely a pet hate of mine).
“Fear was a devastating thing. It gripped you to the point of being completely incapacitated and swallowed every rational thought that was your given right. The most frightening part of fear was that it had the potential to completely destroy you if you let it.”
Moving right along to Josh Crawford.
Be My Temptation.
Synopsis - One night connected them.
One decision separated them.
One craving tempted them.
Ashlyn Hart was done with men, or at least those outside of her books. After stupidly falling for the charms of her cheating ex and having her heart broken yet again, she decided to create a new life. One that involved a career change, a new wardrobe, and the possibility of moving abroad. There was just one hurdle: the confident, stubborn and insanely-tempting Josh Crawford.
Josh Crawford hid behind the cliché bachelor lifestyle and a never-ending parade of women. He knew the game and played it well, but the night he tasted perfection four years ago never left him. Back then, he made a spur of the moment decision, one that he has battled with ever since. But beneath the playboy façade was a yearning that wouldn’t disappear. A craving for the only woman who could bring him to his knees: Ashlyn Hart.
Two weeks changes everything.
One night unravels the deepest of desires.
A simple taste unleashes memories that can’t be tamed.
When the girl who dreams of a happily ever after collides with the guy who lives the ultimate cliffhanger, what ending awaits them? Will fear overshadow love? Will the past play hindrance to the future, or will temptation conquer it all?
I was looking forward to this story after meeting Josh and Ashlyn in Be My December. I wondered how Rachel was going to have this one play out.
This one moves in a slightly different tempo to the first book. These two while they take their time. It's almost like the fuse has been lit and the wick is right there.
Again I love the way Rachel has written these two. Josh is the joker and player in the last book, having his story shows he's very much Ky's brother as the Alpha starts to stake his claim. I liked watching the "Caveman" side of things slowly came to life. Don't worry he doesn't go as far as hitting poor Ashlyn over the head and dragging her back to his cave by her hair but due to the circumstances she finds herself in it's pretty close to it.
Ashlyn's quick wit still shines through in this story (Again credit to Rachel where she's taken secondary characters from her first book and given them a life beyond that first story and we see what was really going on in their heads).
I really enjoyed both these books. I can't wait to pick up my next Rachel Brookes book.
